On a full moon night, we connect mentally during an ecstatic dance ritual.
Performing this ritual brings a feeling of connection and universal relatedness. It provides a way of coping with stress and restoring serenity.
Put on a comfortable outfit, take a music playing device and a yoga mat or pad with you, and go to an outdoor place with a good view of the horizon at least 15 minutes before moonrise. Go by yourself or with others.
Greet the rising moon. Stand in a meditative position and as the moon rises, raise your arms up and welcome the full moon. Stand in Tadasana for at least 5 long breaths.
Next, pick a spot illuminated by the light of the moon, put on your music and begin dancing ecstatically in free form or folk dance styles. Empty your mind, embrace your intuition and attune yourself to the moon. Dance for as long as you need.
When you are done, roll out your yoga mat or pad, sit in Muktasana and bring back your breath. Continue to resonate the lunar power while pondering your gratitude.
