Back To The Studio Muscle Recovery

Sometimes it may be easy to stop working out or practicing yoga in the gym or the studio, especially during summer, when our minds and bodies travel to sandy beaches and picturesque island streets. It is that much harder to get back into your training after a long break. You may not be at the same level you were before, you may feel your body “heavy” and probably afraid of the sore muscle feeling after that first session.

However, there are a few simple ways to ease yourself back into your full routine. Firstly, go back to your daily diet. Vacation always lead to an imbalanced diet, so when you decide to get back to the studio it is essential to return to a stable diet. Also, it is crucial to replenish the recommended daily amount of water. Don’t get us wrong, in the hectic pace of life it is always difficult to keep up with it at 100%, but setting your intention and focusing on that, is what will make the difference.

On that note, the most important step is to show up. Just thinking about going back to the studio can be intimidating but the moment you turn up in that class, that is the first step to go back into your old routine. Of course, don’t put any pressure on yourself especially when it comes to asanas or lifting weights or any kind of exercise.

Moreover, be patient. Don’t push yourself from the start as this will increase risk of injury, resulting on finding yourself spending more time out of the studio. There is no need to do too much. Start easy, listen to your instructor, give your body time to adjust and gradually you’ll go back to your normal level and maybe more.

Muscle Discomfort vs. Muscle Recovery

Having been away from practice for some time, you’ll probably be sore after the first few sessions. Therefore, it is important that you properly warm-up before exercising and stretch afterwards.

To help recuperate faster, you should employ other tools as well. A muscle recovery bath soak is one of our favorite self-care rituals post summer. That is why we have created, or better yet hand blended, our Post Workout Wonder Sore Muscle Relief Bath Soak & Scrub.

Follow these steps for a muscle recovery bath soak that will bring you one step closer to the next yoga or workout session:

  • Sprinkle a generous amount of the Post Workout Wonder Sore Muscle Relief to warm running water.
  • Soak for at least 20 minutes to allow our blend to be absorbed and work its magic.
  • Use the salts and essential oils to scrub and massage your body and especially the parts where you feel most tense.
  • Rinse and towel dry. Wrap yourself, cozy up and rest.
  • When finished scoop petals, flowers and herbs with a strainer before emptying tub.

Tip: Drink water before, during and after the bath.

This magical recipe is filled with salts and minerals like Epsom, Kalahari desert salt, Persian blue salt, Dead Sea salt, Messolonghi fleur de sel, soda, green clay and pure vitamin C. Also, botanicals like arnica flowers and lavender, and of course, arnica, cedar, sandalwood and bergamot essential oils. All of these ingredients mediate to successfully cure your muscles from any soreness, discomfort or pain. Plus, they are all vegan and organic or wild crafted.

Finally, enjoy your comeback as much as possible. Like anything, as long as you love what you do, you’ll want to do more of it. Whatever factors make you enjoy your practice more, listening to music, setting goals, meditating, try to have fun with it. Remember that you don’t have to force yourself bak on that mat. Your yoga mat is your altar, a place for you to grow, challenge yourslef in whichever way suits you and change at your own rate.
